  • Received a report from the City Clerk’s Office on the sufficiency of a petition to amend the city charter to add an elected Civilian Police Accountability Commission.
  • Unanimously approved the concept layout for Nicollet Ave (the old K-Mart site).
  • Approved $600,000 in contract increases for Group Violence Intervention Strategy work.
  • Council Member Jason Chavez gave notice of intent to introduce three ordinances at the May 23 council meeting, related to:
    • A Sidewalk Cart and Street Vending program
    • Establishing proactive and annual inspections for enforcement of housing maintenance codes
    • Adding immigration status, citizenship status, and homeless status as legally protected classes under the city’s civil rights ordinances
  • Received Mayor Frey’s nomination of Michelle Phillips for Civil Rights Director and referred the nomination to the Public Health and Safety Committee, which will holding a public hearing on the nomination on May 15.
  • During the presentation of resolutions, it was announced that City Auditor Ryan Patrick is leaving employment with the city.
